2014 US SAAB Owners Convention in Redmond

Bend, OR – The Saab Club of North America (SCNA), in partnership with the Northwest Saab Owners Club (NWSOC), announced today that the 2014 Saab Owners Convention (SOC14) will take place at the Eagle Crest Resort, located outside Redmond, OR, August 7 – 10, 2014. This annual event will play host to hundreds of Saab lovers from around the world, and may give the United States its first glimpse of fresh Saab products from the company’s new owners, NEVS.

The SOC14 represents the 32nd annual gathering of the Saab faithful as an organized weekend event in North America. Three co-chairs for the event each bring prior experience as chairmen of prior SOCs – Phil Lacefield Jr. (SOC02, Cincinnati), Calye Lacefield (SOC07, Troy MI), and Dan Morley (SOC04, Crystal Mountain WA) as well as dozens of volunteer staff from every part of the Pacific Northwest. Scheduled events include seminars, Q&A sessions with Saab Master Technicians, an update from the Saab Museum in Trollhättan, Sweden, and news on new production of Saab Automobiles. In addition, a five-day self-guided driving tour around Oregon will culminate at the SOC14, providing the participants with a lifetime of memories (all events subject to change.)

For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
