Modified 1996 Saab 900 Turbo does standing mile at 174 mph [video]

A modified 1996 Saab 900 Turbo 2.0 was able to reach 174 mph (280.03 km/h) when performing a standing mile in Texas last month.

This Saab 900 Turbo from 1996 represents the pure definition of a sleeper car since although it looks stock on the outside; its performance level is quite impressive as last month at the Texas Mile it hit 174 mph (280.03 km/h) when finishing the standing mile.

Power comes from a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine which has received a Garrett turbocharger and an updated ECU. As a result of these changes, the 900 Turbo is capable of delivering 465 bhp to the front wheels.

As a reminder, at the same event Hennessey established another speed record with its road-legal Ford GT which was able to reach 267.6 mph (430.66 km/h).
