The Saab 900T16S Ruby Edition had the 185 bhp (138 kW; 188 PS) ‘Carlsson’ engine but no body kit, a one genuine car is on eBay on sale.
All were in ‘Ruby’ Red and can be distinguished from other 900s by the colour-coded bumpers and grey (rather than silver) alloy wheels. They also had the unique air-conditioned interior of buffalo leather with Zegna pure wool inserts in the seats and door panels.
There were 150 examples and were the last classic style 900s sold in the UK. This example for sale is a genuine 2 owner car with only 69,000 miles on the clock from new and has a full Saab main dealer service history.
It is in fantastic condition as you would expect and it has 4 new tires and new brakes and discs all round. his has to be the best example of a classic Saab 900 Ruby available in the UK at this moment, this is indeed a great investment opportunity for somebody to own a piece of motoring history.
There was seven Ruby Red cars made in LHD version, all as far as i know used as company cars, and later sold as used to the public i have one of these cars and know of two other.

Concerns Ruby Edition as LHD version
Info for Lars-Ake Larsson, Västra Götaland (Reg.no.PTB-705):
From reliable data at the 1997 international SAAB meeting in Trollhättan, we were provided with the corresponding VIN data that a total of 15 Ruby Editions were produced in LHD, originally 7 for Sweden and 8 for the EU, with probably more remaining in Sweden than planned . It was confirmed to us at the time that in retrospect the dealer demand for the Ruby Edition LDH was surprisingly greater than expected, but unfortunately only 1 piece was built towards the end due to the premature end of production; This was, among other things, one of the reasons why the US Commemorative Edition was not completely delivered, only 314 of the 325 vehicles ordered.
