Emma Kimiläinen has renewed her contract with PWR Racing for the 2015 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season.
”It feels obvious to continue together with PWR. I feel comfortable with the team and we’ve had an amazing cooperation from the first day which has helped me to get in to STCC quickly,” said Kimiläinen.
The 25-year-old Finn made her STCC debut this year with PWR Racing and became the first female driver in the championship since 1999.
Kimiläinen had a tough first season with four retired races and finished eleventh overall with second place as best result. Team manager Daniel Haglöf is nonetheless pleased with signing Kimiläinen for a second season.
”She has exceeded our expectations this year. I knew that it was going to be tough (for her) to make her STCC debut, but Emma showed straight away that she has got the speed to challenge on this level. She has got one season of experience now and that is going to be an advantage for when we are going to prepare us for next year,” said Haglöf.
Kimiläinen becomes the second confirmed driver for the 2015 STCC season alongside Mattias Andersson while Volvo Polestar Racing has confirmed their participation but not the number of drivers.
