Saab 9-5 breaks through ice road

Ice road over the great lake “Storsjön” is next to Vällviken and is located in Åre Kommun, Jämtland, Sweden.

An ice road is a winter road, or part thereof, that runs on a naturally frozen lake surface in this Swedish region. In winter an ice road connects Isön to the nearby larger island of Norderön.

Although all the ice roads in Sweden are closed due to poor ice conditions, this Saab 9-5 driver did not listen to advice and bans. A man was left in a car that was sinking on the ice road, the emergency services arrived at the scene and were able to bring him to the mainland.

Rain had melted the snow that was sitting on top of the ice, flooding the surface. Ambulance had taken the Saab driver to the hospital for monitoring. Mountain rescue and emergency services helped to pull the car in the country.

Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
