You’ve probably already heard of Saab SID upgrade called eSID2.
If you have not heard, eSID2 is the second generation of a small tool that enhance the Saab driving experience on Saab 9-3 MY07 and newer cars by collecting internal hidden car data and present it to the driver on the built-in SID (Saab Information Display) located in the instrument cluster.
The author of this project is working on a big update, and, at least according to announcements, this update will work on older versions of the Saab 9-3 models, before MY2007. Here’s how the author tease new upgrade: “This is Teaser for the all new eSID under development! What would you put as welcome message if you had 2 rows of text AND a 64×64 pixel Icon. It’s the best way to start a drive…”
Something that i always missed on early 9-3SS is the ability to see if the rain sensor is active. This is taken care of with the next eSID (“RS” in the lower status line):
It is perfectly integrated with the vehicle and is controlled using the normal steering wheel switches. Also interesting, eSID2 also works on Cadillac BLS (2006-2009). Being built on the Saab 9-3 platform makes them very close cousins. And they are very cheap in Sweden…
