Up for sale is a ’92 Saab 900S with 92,570 miles

Look What We Found On Craigslist – 1992 Saab 900S 5-speed with 92,570 miles. Seller believe the odometer reading to be accurate based on both owner-kept service records and CarFax.

The car looks great and here’s what the seller says about the car:

Interior:
Damage on the driver’s seat, as seen in pictures. Passenger and rear seats are fine, but could benefit from leather conditioning. All electrics features (mirrors, sunroof, windows) work. Headliner and door panels have been recently redone in a classic brown tweed. Alignment done about a month ago.

Saab 900 interior

I have specs on that. The steering wheel has slop side-to-side due to a worn column bushing. I do not believe it is mechanical slop (i.e. the rack’s okay). They did not have any issues getting it aligned.

Windshield has two mild surface scratches from crappy wipers. Does not impede visibility. The amp just let go on the stereo, so that’ll need attention. The AC blows cold. Rear carpet in decent shape. Some interior pieces have not been reinstalled post-headliner. Gauge lights work, but dome light does not.

Used Saab for Sale

Exterior:
Car has dents and dings, along with several scratches on paint. Roof paint has some oxidation. It has dents and dings in line with the age of the car. Slight dent on rear driver’s quarter panel above the flare. Dents on some body panels, tried to get them in the pictures. Paint damage on hood.

Mechanical:
The car runs and starts well, and the transmission shifts smoothly. Clutch has positive engagement and the pedal travel indicates that it has plenty of life remaining (though I do not profess to be an expert and intend no warranty). It has a wheel bearing roaring right now that needs attention. It is not damaged enough to be noticeable at surface street speed, but I would not attempt highway speeds for long distances. Also noticed a bum CV boot when doing the brakes.

Chassis:
Replaced the rear shocks with OEM Sachs (also have new front shocks still in the box). California car with zero rust on either body or undercarriage. No damaged metal in the undercarriage or subframe, factory paint under the hood, no evidence of crash damage, which corresponds with the clean CarFax.

Tires are as mismatched brand-wise as possible, but all are the correct size. One rear tire has excessive wear on the inside because of negative camber induced by blown rear shocks (since replaced). Two front ones are fresher, and have good tread.

I have tried to describe it as thoroughly as possible, but feel free to ask for any additional clarifications or photographs. It is not perfect, but if you’d like a fun project that you can drive while restoring, it could fit the bill.
