Maybe this is common knowledge amongst the folks on here, but if you have recently sought a solution in to how to remove the gearknob on the Saab cars and everywhere – literally every bit of advice we found – said it has to be hacked off destroying it in the process.
Then we found it – the video linked below. As the author Paul Campagna says, he saw many people think that the knob on these pulls off. While it does pull off from the shaft, it is super easy to remove the knob from the plastic, without force, or special tools.
So pull up using force on the plastic part only. Not the actual knob, the plastic that you pull on to lift up when going into reverse.
Once it is off the shaft, it is very, very easy to remove the knob. You can immediately tell the tabs are pressed when the knob reacts. The first two will tilt the knob relying on the third tab to hold it. You may want to hold the knob at this point, so it doesn’t go flying off, and tilt it to make it easier to get the last tab.
