Three Characteristics of SAAB

Saab 9-3 Sportcombi

At Svend Wind Automobiles in Højer (South Denmark), they have many special SAAB cars standing around – thanks to a lifelong fascination with the otherwise extinct brand, Saab. As we have already written on several occasions on this blog, the fascination and merits for maintaining the Saab car in this part of the world belong to the local couple Tanja and Per Vodder.

Recently, Per gave an interview to the local media of JV in which he presented his view of his own fascination with Saab cars. On this occasion, a journalist from this newspaper asked: “SAAB is a thing of the past as a car brand – so why do you still nurture the brand and why should you buy it?Per Vodder answers the question that potential buyers of used Saab cars can ask themselves.

What makes SAAB special?

– It is their way of building a car that makes it very special cars. That, and so their safety. It is a special car, and we often see new customers say that they want a SAAB because they want something that the neighbor at least does not have. It is fun to drive the children to school in a SAAB, because there are no others who drive in such a SAAB, and then it clearly also shines through why SAAB did not survive.

They died because there was not enough profit – and when someone came to try to turn the tide, they still went back and did everything in their own way. Very soon after, there was no salvation, this car brand stopped being produced, but it still lives around the world thanks to their uniqueness and numerous enthusiasts.

Why buy a (Used) SAAB?

As Per stated, because of bias he may be the wrong person to address this issue, but, He often hear customers say that they want something special – and that they have heard well about the cars elsewhere. But it is clear that SAAB owners want to stand out, and you could say that they do too.

Is it common for owners to choose to keep Saab cars even though they are no longer in production?

Yes. Absolutely. In fact, it is becoming quite common for customers to come here and spend money on getting their car refurbished instead of changing – says Per and adds the following: “And all this is due to the fact that Saab car fans do not know which other car brand to switch to, none of them is so special.”

Fortunately for Saab car owners around the world, even there in Denmark, spare parts for Saab cars are no problem. – The Saab Spare parts are available – well, nothing is safe in this world, but we get parts delivered from day to day. It was critical just during the bankruptcy, because all machines for making body parts were locked inside – but it has been opened for. We have not yet experienced having to disappoint anyone because we have not been able to get spare parts.- Per said at the end of this mini interview.

In short, Saab cars are alive and well, there are no problems with spare parts, there are a large number of service centers, and this brand still has a large number of fans around the world.

the authorGoran Aničić
For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
