On the South American continent, Saab cars are almost non-existent, except in Uruguay, where they have been present since 1964. The roots of Saab cars were established in this distant country in the 1960s, thanks to the great enthusiast Mr. Jose Arijon, who recognized the value of Swedish cars and became the importer and representative of Saab in this country.
Thanks to him and his followers, in Uruguay you can still see Saab cars on the streets and roads, and in addition to the newer models, the oldest ones that date from the 60s of the last century. However, it was not until 2008 that a number of Saab car owners and car enthusiasts recognized the value of these vehicles and saw the need to team up and form a club.
From then until now, the members of the club gather at least once a year to exchange experiences and manage to keep their Saab cars in good and driving condition. Just the day before yesterday, on Saturday, November 20, 2021, the club organized an annual gathering attended by several dozen members of the club and the same number of Saab cars. The annual gathering of Saab Club members was held in the small town of Pando, which is located near the capital of this state of Montevideo.
In the morning, the participants of this small rally gathered at a nearby gas station and then headed to Pando, where their final destination was a local farm. On that farm, the members of the Saab club organized a gathering with a barbecue and a good drink.
