Another incredible case of surviving a serious traffic accident in Saab, noted the local state police officers of Vermont (USA). And in this accident, the Saab 9-5 proved to be one of the safest cars in the history of the automotive industry in the real situation. The accident was recorded yesterday, February 1, on a local road near the town of Georgia, south of the Canadian city of Montreal, right near the US-Canada border.

Irresponsible driver Jordan Therrien, only 20 years old, driving himself on the Ethan Allen Highway in Georgia, accelerated his Saab 9-5 to a speed of over 100MPH (160 km/h). Due to unfavorable road conditions, the young Saab driver landed off the highway and crashed at a speed of about 120 MPH (160 km/h).

In traffic accidents at such high speeds, there are almost no survivors, and in the event of a collision with stronger barriers, the mortality rate is 100%. Fortunately, no one else was in the vehicle next to the driver, and he did not hit any other vehicle at the time of the accident.

The miracle of this traffic accident is that – the Saab driver not only survived the accident, but did not have any serious injuries! The driver, Jordan Therrien, received minor injuries and was transported to the Northwestern Medical Center for treatment.

Unfortunately for this young man, further investigation determined that he was under the influence of narcotics before the accident. And that’s not all, so in addition to driving under the influence of narcotics, he is charged with operating the car  with a criminally suspended license, and additionally for violating the conditions of release in connection with another speeding incident.

Unfortunately, this young man can never learn a lesson, so we guess this serious accident in which only Saab (and God) saved him will be sobering for him, and that he will never risk his own life and the lives of other road users in traffic.

For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
