Trollhattan City and Local Company Acquire Parts of Former Saab Plant for Future Development!

Trollhättan City and Kraftstaden Properties‘ subsidiary, Propellern Fastighetsutveckling AB, have signed a letter of intent with NEVS to acquire a portion of the property known as Propellern 8, also known as Tekniska. At the same time, Trollhättan City has also signed its own letter of intent with NEVS to purchase adjacent developable land. These acquisitions secure the continued development of the Stallbacka area and the opportunities to offer space for companies looking to establish themselves in Trollhättan.

The reason why Kraftstaden, through its subsidiary, wants to acquire Tekniska (which consists of a total area of approximately 250,000 sqm, of which 65,000 sqm are buildings) is due to the high demand for local properties in Trollhättan, according to CEO Anders Torslid.

“We have been seeking potential development areas for some time, and Stallbacka, with its favorable strategic location, is an area with enormous development potential as we see it,” explains Anders Torslid.

“Inquiries from companies wanting to establish themselves in Trollhättan already exist, and our positive experiences from our development work with Innovatum District give us great confidence in this project,” he continues.

The land purchase and the comprehensive approach taken by Trollhättan City are explained by the Chairman of the Municipal Executive Board, Peter Eriksson, as well-considered and well-planned, even though NEVS’ layoff announcement on Thursday has somewhat accelerated the process.

“The opportunity to purchase this strategically located land of approximately 500,000 sqm fits well with our long-term strategy of being able to secure a supply of land for the foreseeable future in order to quickly respond to the numerous inquiries for land that Trollhättan consistently receives,” explains Peter Eriksson.

Chairman of Trollhättan Stadshus AB, Paul Åkerlund, agrees that it is important to seize this opportunity.

“By becoming involved in the continued development of the area, we can contribute to strong growth with our accumulated experience from similar development projects,” he explains.

NEVS CEO Nina Selander views the deal positively and is confident that Trollhättan City and Kraftstaden will continue to develop the Stallbacka area successfully.

“For our employees who have been laid off, we also hope that this may create opportunities for other assignments and employment, as there is a lot of unique expertise that we know is in demand by many companies in the surrounding area. At the same time, this sale strengthens our financial situation,” explains Nina Selander.

The ambition is for possession to take place during the spring.
