Rare Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 with Low Mileage up for Auction - A Piece of Swedish Automotive History

Rare find: One of only 400 produced, this Saab 9-3 was built three years after the company went bankrupt.

Saab, the iconic Swedish carmaker, produced many legendary cars over the years, but few are as beloved as the Saab 9-3. First introduced in 1998, the Saab 9-3 quickly became a favorite among car enthusiasts thanks to its unique design, practicality, and advanced safety features.

Despite being discontinued in 2014, the Saab 9-3 still has a loyal following, and some of the limited edition models produced by National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) have become highly sought after by collectors. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at one of these rare Saab 9-3 models, the Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4, which has recently appeared for auction in Sweden. A similar one was recently sold through another auction house, and the selling price was also several tens of thousands of euros.

However, a few years later, a glimmer of hope appeared when a new company, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS), took over the assets of Saab Automobile AB, with the aim of resurrecting the brand. In 2014, NEVS produced a limited run of 421 Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 models, which are now considered a rare find in the automotive world.

One of these rare cars has recently appeared for auction in Sweden, presenting a unique opportunity for car collectors and enthusiasts. The Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 has a record-low mileage of only 2,900 kilometers, and it is said to be in mint condition. The model features a 2-liter petrol engine with 220 horsepower, an automatic transmission, and a sleek, silver exterior with black leather seats. The interior also features some unique design elements, such as front seats borrowed from a Volvo XC90.

The Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 was first registered in 2015, and it has had only one owner since then. It is a testament to the brand’s heritage, as the Saab name is proudly displayed on the vehicle, although NEVS was not permitted to use the well-known Saab logo.

The car was originally sold for SEK 297,000 (approximately USD 35,000), and the current estimated value is between SEK 340,000 and SEK 380,000 (approximately USD 40,000 – 45,000). However, given the limited number of models produced, the price of this particular car may soar much higher at the auction.

What makes the Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 unique is not just its rarity but also its fascinating history. NEVS had ambitious plans to revive the Saab brand and become a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles. However, the company encountered financial difficulties, and the plans never materialized.

The limited run of Saab 9-3 Aero Turbo4 models produced in 2014 was intended to be the beginning of a new era for the brand. Instead, it turned out to be a final tribute to Saab’s legacy, as the company was unable to produce any more cars after that.
