I have been driving Saabs for about 35 years so not quite as long as you have, I have a 9-5 Aero and I love it, it’s very well put together in my opinion, I’ve also been told it was rushed out and released too early but I guess it was a last ditch attempt at saving Saab, I was of course joking about your opinion being wrong 😊 but I happen to think it’s a great Saab
TO Jon English > this was my 95ng I ran it for 8 months it was 6 speed auto 2 litre Tdi. 48k fsh I tried my hardest to like it but felt it was too big and cumbersome I felt that it was rushed through production and was all fur coat and no knickers lol. It is unfortunately almost entirely Buick Regal / Open Insignia with a pinch of Saab. We got lucky with the OG 9⁵, much more Saabness. The engineers did their best with the time and money they had but, the end was fast approaching.
Couple of points: Suprised there are only 57 Aeros left in the UK, I am in that club. Look out of your window around 8pm tonight and you will see mine zooming up the M6 up to J16.
Lots of people judging the NG based on reviews and experiences of the TiD Vector; the Aeros and the TTiD didn’t receive the same criticism but the Vector was upgraded considerably for 2011.
I had one felt proud to drive it plus could outrun most cars
It’s just Insignia in and out… 😢 But yes, some time really long ago SAABs were really great cars.
