The Saab Club of North America (SCNA) reaches out with a heavy heart to all Saab enthusiasts and the wider automotive community, highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support that defines our special group. Today, we share a story that hits close to home, about one of our own in need of our collective strength and generosity.

Tyler Nay, a prominent member of the SCNA and owner of Petersen Automotive in Skokie, Illinois, is facing a dire medical crisis. Known within the community not just for his expertise and service in the Saab world but also for his generous and compassionate nature, Tyler’s situation is a somber reminder of how swiftly circumstances can change.

Petersen Automotive, a beacon for Saab owners and a stalwart supporter of the Saab community, including serving as the title sponsor for the Saab Owners’ Convention (SOC) last year, has encountered an unexpected challenge. Tyler is currently in the ICU battling Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome, a severe condition that rapidly escalated from simple cold symptoms and back pain to multi-organ failure. This has necessitated dialysis, ventilatory support, and emergency surgery, placing Tyler in a critical fight for his life.

The Nay family, navigating this unimaginable ordeal, has shown incredible strength. Through updates on CaringBridge, they have kept the community informed, allowing us to share in their journey and offer our support. It’s a testament to the family’s resolve and the community’s willingness to rally around one of its members during their time of need.

A GoFundMe campaign has been organized on behalf of Kathryn Nay, Tyler’s spouse, to alleviate some of the financial burdens this crisis has imposed on the Nay family. As Tyler is also a small business owner, the impact of his illness extends beyond his personal health, threatening the livelihood of his family and the future of Petersen Automotive.

This is a call to action for all Saab enthusiasts, local clubs, shops, and indeed, anyone touched by the spirit of generosity that Tyler exemplifies. Donations, prayers, and messages of support are all invaluable at this time. Let’s unite to offer tangible assistance to the Nay family, ensuring that financial worries are one less concern as they focus on Tyler’s recovery.

For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
