A Factory New Saab 96 Has Triggered a Bidding War on Auction

SAAB 96 V4 Super 1980

A brand new Saab 96 V4 Super has been found after being hidden in a barn since 1979. With only 7 kilometers on the clock, in 42 years, this car is practically new – unused. Now Saab has triggered a pure bidding war and is up to SEK 410,000 ($ 44,000) at the auction.

This “green pearl” has not been driven since it was delivered and driven into a barn in Nossebro in 1979. Now it is being auctioned off in Gothenburg. The interest is huge and the price is much more than it cost 42 years ago. On the auction company’s website, it is stated that the car can not even be called a low mileage because it has not traveled a mile yet.

The “acacia green” (Color code 148B) Saab 96 GL V4 Super with matching green upholstery was manufactured in Finland by SAAB Valmet the same year as it was stored in a barn in Sweden. But the fact that it has hardly been used does not mean that the years have passed completely without a trace. Humidity and other things have led to a bit of surface rust here and there, and the engine certainly needs a thorough overhaul.

Interestingly, when the Saab was delivered to the buyer, and the exact date is known, it was October 17, 1979, he did not want to drive this car and never sold it to anyone else. And so it was until his death. Now, after the death of the owner, this car has been put up for auction by the state.

No one has ever sat or driven in this Saab 96.
