If you’ll recall, we already wrote about Saab 9000 Convertible concept by Valmet Automotive called “Fivebow”. That concept car is preserved at the Uusikaupunki Automuseo at the Valmet factory and not much information has been published about it so far.
but this is a completely different concept – a custom rebuild of a Saab 9000i, done by Björn Frykholm. This The 9000 cabbrio was presented in an old Motorsport (Bilsport) magazine from 1995. The condition of today know only the owner, but Björn Frykholm built this car as a 50th birthday present to himself.
The entire frame is reinforced, The rear doors welded back and front doors was extended. The canopy is a modified originally from Ford Escort. The Interior are custom made, with folding 9000 front seats and a custom rear. However, as can be seen from the pictures, Everything is Saab original design and provide an original in terms of impressions.
This was also not Björn Frykholms first cabrio-building based on a Saab. He had previously built an award-winning Saab cabrio based on a Saab 900 and several other cheeky Saabs, during the 80’s. The Saab 9000 Convertible project began in 1993 and was completed in 1995.
