Danish Police Confiscate Saab Car Caught “Lunatic” Speeding

A police van that noticed the speeding of the Danish Saab driver

The 48-year-old Danish driver will lose his driver’s license, and his Saab was confiscated by the police because he “flew” next to the police “photo-van” at a speed of 182 km/h!

On Viborgvej road in the small West Jutland town of Vinderup (Denmark), the maximum permitted speed is 80 km/h, local media “Dagbladet” reports . However, a 48-year-old Saab driver from the vicinity of this Danish place “flew” on Thursday morning next to a police vehicle recording traffic. At a speed of 182 km/h, the man thus lost both a driving license and a car – an older Saab, as stated in the police report.

Fortunately, we do not see that kind of thing that often. But this Danish Saab driver is really reckless, and even 100 km/h drove faster than the allowed speed on this part of the road. During this police check, this Saab driver was not alone in the traffic violation.

During this police control, another 40 drivers exceeded the speed limit, and they mostly went through fines, unlike this Saab driver, whose car was also confiscated. Driving on such a road at such a high speed increases the risk of serious injury or death. In addition, it is far too high speed, which other drivers who, for example, hold for unconditional obligation to give way, do not have the chance to be able to assess.

Insanely fast driving caused the confiscation of vehicles, which was made possible by a new law passed by the Danish parliament almost two years ago. In such cases, the Danish police have the right to confiscate the vehicle and the Court rules on the later sale of the car at a public auction. The law allows police to seize vehicles in the event of particularly bad driving. If agreed to by a judge, police can permanently confiscate and auction off the vehicle to the benefit of the Danish treasury.

That way, this irresponsible Saab driver will be left without his car and without a driver’s license.

His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
