This pristine vehicle, which has gracefully endured the test of time, is set to brighten not just the life of its new owner but also the lives of children and adolescents in the Schutzengel-Huus—a unique care home for those with severe disabilities.

The Legacy of the Saab 900i Convertible

Introduced in 1984, the Saab 900i Convertible captured the hearts of automotive enthusiasts with its innovative design, robust engineering, and unmatched driving experience. The vehicle on auction is a shining example of this legacy. With 369,000 kilometers clocked over 34 years, this car is a testament to the durability and reliability of Saab engineering. Despite its mileage, careful ownership and routine maintenance have kept it in excellent condition. The inclusion of a retrofit catalytic converter ensures it complies with modern emissions standards, allowing it to boast a green environmental badge in Germany.

A Journey of Care and Restoration

While the Saab 900i Convertible is in stellar condition, its journey hasn’t been without challenges. A recent transmission overhaul resolved an issue with the fifth gear, ensuring the car is mechanically sound for its next chapter. Other routine restorations, including updates to the drivetrain and suspension, have been carried out meticulously.

According to Peter Burlager, workshop manager at Rosier Classic Sterne in Oldenburg, the car is “ready to drive” and offers peace of mind to its next owner. Minor cosmetic and maintenance tasks, such as replacing hoses or addressing wear on bushings, are expected but are par for the course with vehicles of this vintage.

His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
