Heavy weekend for SAAB Team Tidö in STCC

This season’s third SAAB STCC race Team failed Tidös road, when Richard Göransson awarded a contentious penalty in a summer idyllic Falkenberg. 2014 Edition of Västkustloppet – traditionally arranged at Falkenberg’s Motor circuit – was settled in 30-degree heat and under brilliant sunshine. Göransson  first had to break Saturday’s opening heat after a collision with Championship runner-up Fredrik Ekblom and then in the suites of the incident were punished with five-seat relegation to the second race.

The incident started when Björk made his way past Linus Ohlsson who got a slow exit of turn one. Göransson tried to go on the outside of Ohlsson who closed the door on the Saab driver. This enabled Ekblom to get up alongside Göransson who a corner later lost control of his Saab and crashed into the side of Ekblom, meaning a retirement for both drivers and major damage to the cars. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
