One of the main roads through Salford (UK) was shut for several hours on Thursday evening when a police pursuit ended in a dramatic smash. Policemans say they began pursuing a stolen silver Saab 9-3 Sportcombi before it came off the A6 in Swinton at around 6.45pm, hitting a number of parked cars.
Luckily, in this incident no one has been seriously injured. PC Picton said the Saab 9-3 collided with a Škoda, an Audi and then a Mazda.
Pictures from the scene on Manchester Road showed an Audi wedged on a set of metal railings in front of a row of buildings. PC Matt Picton said it was parked, but was shunted up a street sign and onto the railings. Thankfully, no-one was in the Audi at the time.
A GMP spokesman confirmed no one was seriously in the collision, on the stretch of the A6 between Dorchester Road and Worsley Road. One man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle and taken into custody for questioning, police confirmed. Stolen Saab pursued by two unmarked traffic vehicles, luckily minor injuries only but extensive damage caused, one arrested and currently in custody
