Celebrating the Saab 9000

Just as the Saab Festival in Trollhättan earlier this June celebrated the milestone anniversary of the Saab 9000, the International Saab Meeting 2024 will also honor this iconic model. Born in 1984, the Saab 9000 is an ideal candidate for celebration at the international meeting in Denmark. The idea of developing a larger car began as early as 1974, and it took nearly 10 years before the finished vehicle was unveiled in May 1984.

With groundbreaking technology, as known from earlier cars developed and produced in Trollhättan, the Saab 9000 received accolades from leading motor journalists worldwide. In the United States, the car was classified as a Large Car, although it was not physically larger than the Saab 900. The team succeeded in creating a vehicle with an extremely high safety level, low emissions, and an incredibly spacious interior.

As everyone knows, the car’s body and chassis were developed in collaboration with Fiat, including Alfa Romeo and Lancia. This collaboration led to the presentation of the Saab 9000, Fiat Croma, Lancia Thema, and Alfa Romeo 164, each with their unique brand-specific features and DNA. Today, we can appreciate that the Saab 9000 is entirely its own, with quality and durability ensuring that it still exists on roads worldwide in significantly higher numbers than its sister models.

Therefore, we look forward to seeing many Saab enthusiasts attend with their beautiful variants of this model.
