One owner of the beautiful Saab 9-5 NG Aero model has caused great attention on the Saab forums, with his in-house DIY solution to the problem of car paint protection. As he said, he was preparing for a long trip, and he did somehow to protect the frontal end of the car…

For temporary paint protection there are adequate preparations and products, but He decided to try and create a cheaper alternative – he took advantage of the painter’s tape and buffed the front end of the car.

Saab paint protection

The right solution is PPF – Paint protection film is a TPU film applied to painted surfaces of a car to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatters, and minor abrasions. This solution is certainly more expensive, but the solution is longer-term, The material used for the film is high-transmittance polymer polyurethane, which has high transparency and excellent elasticity. The film can be stretched to a maximum of four times more than the original size, and will shrink back to the original size.
