A Rare Saab 9-5NG Transformed into a Custom Car Hauler
In the ever-narrowing pool of Saab 9-5NG models, enthusiasts and collectors cherish these rare machines as symbols of Saab’s innovative spirit during its final days. However, few could have predicted that one would resurface in such an unconventional form. Listed for sale on the Swedish marketplace Blocket.se, this 2011 Saab 9-5NG has been radically converted into a car hauler, merging Scandinavian design elegance with pure functionality.
This transformation likely makes it one of the rarest Saab 9-5NGs in existence, standing out not just as a cherished remnant of Saab’s legacy but as a purpose-built transporter that carries forward the marque’s innovative DNA.
A Closer Look at the Saab 9-5NG Auto Hauler
The listing highlights a 2011 model Saab 9-5NG that has been meticulously rebuilt into an auto transporter with a fully integrated flatbed trailer. Powering this rare creation is a 2.0-liter diesel engine producing 190 horsepower, paired with a manual transmission – a configuration seldom seen in typical auto haulers.
With just 7000 Swedish miles (approximately 70,000 km) on the odometer, this Saab hauler has barely broken in, offering both reliability and performance. The seller notes that the vehicle has been recently inspected and approved (“Nybesiktigad”), giving buyers peace of mind regarding its roadworthiness.

Preserving Saab’s Legacy Through Ingenuity
Transforming a Saab 9-5NG into a functional car hauler speaks volumes about the creativity and passion within the Saab community. This rare find preserves the essence of Saab’s craftsmanship while repurposing the vehicle for practical use. The car hauler stands as a tribute to the brand’s philosophy of blending design with engineering excellence.
At a listed price of 350,000 SEK (approximately $33,000 USD), this Saab car hauler isn’t just a vehicle – it’s a piece of automotive history. For Saab aficionados and car collectors, the chance to own such a unique build might be as rare as the car itself.
The Exclusivity of the Saab 9-5NG
The Saab 9-5NG’s rarity stems from the turbulent years leading to Saab’s bankruptcy. Production of the 9-5NG was cut short in 2011, with only around 11,280 units ever produced. As a result, finding a 9-5NG in pristine condition is already challenging, let alone encountering one repurposed into a fully functional hauler.
The uniqueness of this particular 9-5NG lies in its dual identity – it’s both a collector’s item and a working vehicle. The interior reflects typical Saab luxury, with black leather seats and a driver-centric cockpit, while the exterior reveals a rugged, capable hauler that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics.
Practicality Meets Passion
For buyers seeking a blend of practicality and rarity, this Saab 9-5NG hauler offers an irresistible combination. Whether you’re looking to transport classic cars, motorcycles, or even other Saabs, this vehicle delivers both the performance and the pedigree to get the job done in style.
Where to Find It
This one-of-a-kind Saab hauler is currently available in Malmö, Sweden, and interested buyers can view the full listing on Blocket.se. Given the attention this listing is receiving, it won’t be long before it finds a new home.
I’ve seen OG9-5 like that but to butcher rare NG9-5 😢
I’d rather butcher NG9-5 & Opel/Vauxhall Insignia and make this one:

TO Tomi Toikka
the ng was rearended badly many years ago and was deregistred and ”scrapped” in the swedish roadregistry, they have saved the front and got an ng9-5 back on the road after almost 6 years in a yard. Even though the car today not uses a Saabvin number due to its previous history.
Nice one🫡! Is there anyone there, who could help with some information on how to you register such a conversion in the county where this is made? I am only asking out of curiosity since I have built a somewhat sturdy trailer(and I mist agree quite ugly looking) I had it built when I was living in the U.K. (about 10 years or more ago). At the time, you build your thing, stick a number plate of the towing vehicle at the back of the trailer and away you go off to the sunset🚀🛸😎. Simple as that. Although the welds on my thing may look terrible, they have proven to withstand the test of driving anywhere in Eastern Europe. Once I had it overloaded and the roads I was going through were like if I was traveling on Mars. I bent all the wheels of my Saab 900 convertible and cracket one if them. After I completed the journey the wheels had the shape of an egg (genuine Saab wheels) with buckles everywhere. Suspension just fine for another 50000km and trailer no issues at all. So I am kind of confident my contraption is made strong enough. I have been struggling to register the thing here in Bulgaria (EU) and keep my UK registration, but police is sometimes unimpressed. So far I had no problems, but I would be curious to find out if there is aw way to register any such things in EU. For example you can not register a car converted to electric in Bulgaria, but you can in Romania and Belgium as far as I am aware😳. The convertible Saab mentioned above blew it’s engine and I kind of getting ideas in my head🤗Any info would be appreciated!
