SAAB 900 TURBO T16 AIRFLOW 1/18

Here’s a grain of comfort to all those unfortunates who can’t afford a real rare Saab 900 Turbo T16 Airflow car. These are faithful miniatures of one of the most popular SAAB models that have enriched the offer of “DNA Collectibles” specialists for scaled models these days.

Whether you want a faithful copy of your dream car or you are just an avid collector know that the choice is more than rich. These new scaled cars are offered in several different body colors, those colors that were once offered to customers in select SAAB markets. Although fans and owners of modern Saab cars are more interested in the latest generation Saab models, the most attractive among collectors are miniatures of models that have not been produced for years, just like the Saab 900.

To dispel the myth that cars are only “collected by children”, the team from the “DNA Collectibles” team has so far made a large number of models of various vehicles of serious collector’s value, which can bring everyone an unusual look into the filigree world of small vehicles.

Their latest model on offer is one that is considered the pinnacle of Saab’s cars being produced in two generations of versions. In this case, the “DNA collectibles” team focused on the first generation, known as the “classic 900” – the Saab 900 Turbo T16 Aero/SPG/Airflow, which was produced between 1978 and 1993. Like other Saab models they have made so far, this model is made on a 1/18 scale so it is too rich in detail. Another interesting thing about this model is that at the SAAB Festival in Trollhattan in 2007 it was declared the most favorite model by Saab fans and connoisseurs.

To the delight of collectors, the DNA team decided to reproduce the T16 model with the Airflow kit with the following aerodynamic features: the front and rear bumpers, the side skirts, the spoiler extension, and the lateral air vents. At first, “Aero” was only available in black and silver, but for a short period also in the advanced color Pearl White. Thanks to two layers of color, silver and yellow, you got a faint mother-of-pearl effect. However, the painting process was expensive and time consuming and was only done on a few cars. Later there was a slightly different offer.

Although the Saab 900 Aero was awe-inspiring with its 175 horses and powerful turbochargers then, in the eighties, it is far from difficult to restrain today. Looking from today, The character of the turbo engine is that it is very modest when it is driven at a leisurely pace and it is only over 3000 rpm that the turbocharger begins to push large amounts of air into the cylinders. But today, these performances are not as important as the rarity of this model.

The detail of the model is astonishing, so let’s say the development team has gone so far that only a sharp eye can see the level of detail, such as the radiator behind the car’s bonnet or perfectly replicated the dotted intake lines as well as the lower central air intake below it. In any case, the model will satisfy even the greatest perfectionists.

However, they may be disappointed that they will have to wait for the first models to reach customers, because the first deliveries of models at the price of $167.99 are planned for the third quarter of next year. However, we believe that the biggest fans will be patient, and they will certainly be ready to wait.
