Saab 9000 on the MysteryBox Rally – To raise money for the Cancer Council

Australians Aidan Nicolson and his mate Adam Finch resurrected this tired 1987 SAAB 9000 and are taking it for a spin in the Australian Outback!

They bought this car a few months ago and a couple of mechanics told them it was too far gone. They didn’t like that answer so got some parts together, found another mechanic and she’s back on the road where she belongs!

They’ve temporarily decorated it with a vinyl wrap and they’re taking it on the MysteryBox Rally along with 129 other cars, starting from Mildura on the 20th October.

Saab 9000 rally

They’ll cover almost 3000kms on a mystery route through the outback before returning to Mildura. This is all to raise money for the Cancer Council, they’ve just hit $2000 with $1500 left to raise – a cause worthy of working hard to get this SAAB back in the road!

If anyone has any advice for thrm – noises to listen for, common mechanical issues to check before they go, whatever, they’d love to hear them.

Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
