Someone heard that they exist, but they thought it was a myth, but still not – these little cars exist and allegedly only 75 were produced. Saab Turbo 006 Convertible Junior s a true mini car with SUS engine. and one such car model is just selling, and it’s in a very good condition – Unlike some of the other models this one comes with working lights and reverse.
However, however, there is other information indicating that more were produced, as many as 150 pieces. They were not made by SAAB but were licenced and were sold through some dealerships. Today, The price of these cars is up to $ 2 thousand. A mint example went for much more…a total project for half that. Originally made around 1986 in Rauma, Finland by Lokari – Leo Laine Oy.
From the manufacturers own pages – Leo Laine Oy (Ltd) is a family company which was established in 1966. The business areas of the company are vacuum forming of HD-polyethylene-, PP- and ABS- plastics, injection molding and manufacturing of plastic sheet. The products are either the company’s own or sub-contract work for the industry. The main raw material is HDPE. The production is integrated from sheet manufacturing to completed products. The dimensions of the car are: length 205cm (81″), width 100cm (39″) and weight 55kg (121lbs).
Turbo 006 Mini car was recommended for children over 8 years of age (also adults), The car had adjustable brake and accelerator pedals. This Honda engine consumes about 1l 92 octane gasoline per 1 hour of use (0,2 gallons per hour). Transmission is done like torque converter (stepless gearing), chain to rear axle sprocket, left rear wheel drive wheel (for winter conditons 2-wheel drive also possible), drum brake on rear axle.
Built in 1986, This junior car is powered by a wheel motor that can turn into a 4×2 for winter driving (how cool is that? Even in a Go-kart). This according to Saab 900 Classic website who have a number of great photo’s on their site of the 006 including the one below of the 3.5hp engine.
Saab produced 75 of these extremely rare Go-Karts for sale through the dealer network. The car was powered by a 3.5 horse power Honda four stroke engine and had a top speed of 22 mph (35km/h).
One such mini car is just selling Carl Young, so you can ask him for details.
