A Meeting of Saab Minds – Connecting Through the Spirit of Adventure

Novi Sad witnessed a unique automotive rendezvous this week as Saab enthusiasts from Poland’s SaabVoyage project crossed paths with the local SaabPlanet team (GoranUna). This wasn’t just another casual car meet – it was a celebration of shared passion, road-worn experiences, and a deep-rooted love for the Saab brand. As someone who’s been documenting Saab culture for years, meeting the incredible family behind SaabVoyage felt like reconnecting with old friends.

SaabVoyage, a family project spearheaded by Marcin, his wife Agnieszka, and their two daughters, has become well-known in the global Saab community. This fearless family takes their Saab 9-5 NG Aero V6 on extensive road trips across Europe, documenting their travels on Instagram and Facebook. This particular trip saw them journeying from Poland, through Turkey, and now on their return leg through Serbia.

The Journey Through Europe – 40,000 Kilometers and Counting

Marcin and his family are no strangers to long-haul road trips. This year alone, they have clocked over 40,000 kilometers, navigating diverse terrains and historic landmarks, with Istanbul as the final destination. From the ruins of Troy to the coastal beauty of Izmir, their journey through Turkey was as much a historical expedition as it was a test of their Saab’s endurance.

With over 870 hours spent on the road, SaabVoyage has proven that the Saab 9-5 NG Aero V6 isn’t just a car – it’s a reliable travel companion that bridges cultures and countries. As Marcin humorously mentioned during our meet-up, “We might be ‘checking off’ Europe, but the Middle East is already calling.”

A Warm Welcome in Novi Sad – A SaabPlanet Gathering

Novi Sad was a fitting location for this impromptu Saab meet-up. As the SaabVoyage team rolled into the city in their signature silver 9-5 NG Aero, we greeted them at the local shopping center parking lot, a popular rendezvous spot for local car enthusiasts. Two Saabs parked side by side tell a story of mutual respect and passion for automotive craftsmanship.

The afternoon was filled with exchanging stories, inspecting each other’s vehicles, and reminiscing about past Saab events. Over coffee and tea, discussions veered towards future travels. Marcin revealed plans for a brief stop in Slovakia and Hungary before heading back to Poland. The trip, however, is far from over, with new destinations already on the horizon.

Each vehicle in their fleet carries a piece of Saab’s storied legacy, reaffirming the brand’s status as more than just a car manufacturer – Saab is a lifestyle.

Looking Ahead – Future Collaborations and Travels

Our encounter in Novi Sad wasn’t just a one-time event. While joint adventures weren’t planned, there’s a possibility we might cross paths again at the first major Saab gathering later this year in Slovakia, scheduled for October, where the SaabVoyage team has attended in previous years.

For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
