CTEK are delighted to announce that they have as part of an exciting and unique partnership with the PWR Racing Team (SAAB STCC Team), parts of the old CTEK warehouse will become a new CTEK training & development centre and also a new base for the PWR team.
This collaboration with PWR will enable them to undertake research and development and deliver training in a modern and inspiring environment, fit for the future. CTEK believe that this is the first time such a collaboration between a racing team and a technology company has taken place and we are really excited about it.
Vikmanshyttan, an old industrial town of 800 citizens in the heart of Sweden is home to the headquarters and development center of battery charging specialist CTEK, a leading global brand in battery management solutions – and soon, also the PWR racing team. The build also marks the Wallenberg family’s return to the small Dalecarlian town. As part of an exciting and unique partnership between CTEK and PWR Racing Team, this tiny town will become the new base for the PWR team, integrated alongside a new training & development center with CTEK.
The technological hub being created in Vikmanshyttan will be over 1,400 square meters, and will house a brand new racing workshop, a showroom, a lab and an education center. The “state of the art” facility has room for servicing, optimization and maintenance of up to ten high specification racing cars. The facilities will be the new home of PWR Racing Team, a team built from the ground up by Peter “Poker” Wallenberg and racing profile Daniel Haglöf starting 2012. Last season the team competed with several cars in the STCC, a Lamborghini in Swedish GT and a junior team in Formula Renault 1.6 with championship victories in the two latest.
“The team has grown faster than I thought possible and is, starting 2016, run by full time mechanics, team principal and media unit. An incredibly important part of our continuing growth is this this important partnership with CTEK that has resulted in our new facilities.” Says PWR Racing Team CEO Daniel Haglöf.
The CTEK / PWR Partnership also marks a return to Vikmanshyttan of the Wallenberg family after a 65-year absence. Peter “Poker” Wallenberg’s relative, Jacob Wallenberg, was SEB’s delegate in Wikmanshytte Mill’s board from 1921 to 1951 when the bank owned the iron mill. Two generations later the family is back, in a completely different matter.
– Apart from the creation of our racing team base I’m very happy that Vikmanshyttan will be the place for it. Believe it or not, but I remember big iron plates with the inscription “Wikmanshyttan” that Jacob had received from the mill. These were standing in an old fireplace in Jacobs home. When we sat by the fireplace all those years ago no one could have guessed that I would have one of my most beloved projects stationed in that very town.
Jon Lind, CEO of CTEK said “We have a strong commitment to our customers and see customer training and support as a key driver of our success. Also, as a global company at the forefront of automotive technology, it is important that we continue to invest in research and development. This collaboration with PWR will enable us to undertake research and development and deliver training in a modern and inspiring environment, fit for the future. We believe that this is the first time such a collaboration between a racing team and a technology company has taken place and we are really excited about it.”
