The very active “Saab Club Nederland” with a large number of members has long had plans to organize a tour in cooperation with the Facebook group “Saab Cabrio Group – Holland ” (in original “Saab Cabrio-groep Nederland“), but the pandemic and other events postponed the organization of this gathering.

The officials of “Saab Club Nederland” as the organizers of the Tour, were surprised by the number of registrations for this meeting exclusively intended for owners of Saab convertible cars, so they had to close registrations for this event with slightly less than 100 Saab Cabrio teams.

Probably due to the changeable and bad weather, some teams gave up at the last minute, but the organizers of the Tour were still able to welcome as many as 85 Saab Convertible teams to the start at the Hotel Van der Valk in Deventer. And in order to organize themselves a little better and not to congest the traffic, the organizers decided to divide the meeting participants into four groups.

After coffee and welcome words/briefing, the first group started at 11.30 am. The planned tour of over 117 km took the participants through Deventer, via IJsseldijk to Wijhe, in between to Hein, from Hein in between to Dalfsen, where the organizers planned a coffee stop at the Tammeling family Saab museum “Takt2Aero”.

From the attempts of Saab club members to organize parking in the museum as best as possible, little came of it, so with a lot of art and patience, they arranged almost a hundred cars. The Saab Convertibles found a place on the grounds of the museum. Saab Museum representatives Johan and Wouter invited some volunteers, who surely led everyone into the area around the museum, and tried to serve everyone with refreshment, so the coffee machines were working at “full power”.

After visiting this first Saab museum, the route continued from Dalfsen via Ommen to Lemele. It is interesting that there is another Saab museum in the town of Lemele, so the participants of the Tour had the opportunity to visit another Dutch Saab museum. As with “Takt2Aero” in Dalfsen, the participants were also amazed at the collection that Gerrit Jan Hallink has built up over the years. Watch the interview with this Saab collector below:

After visiting the museum in Gerrit Jan, the Tour led the participants through Lemeleberg, so that the large group of Saab convertibles would slowly return to Deventer. In Van der Valk, the organizers planned to collect impressions and the participants could talk over coffee and drinks.

The three initiators of the tour, namely: Peter van Amen, Ron van Dorsten and Alfons Heetjans came to the conclusion that this collaboration between the Saab Cabrio Group and Saab Club Nederland deserves repetition! We also agree with this statement, and we wish them to successfully organize many more similar events again, and we wish all the other motorists’ clubs around the world that gather Saab car lovers.

For over 15 years, Goran Aničić has been passionately focused on Saab automobiles and everything related to them. His initial encounter with Saab cars took place back in 2003 when the first Saab 9-3 and sedan version were introduced. At that moment, he was captivated by the car's Scandinavian design logic and top-notch engineering, and everything that followed stemmed from that first encounter. Later on, through his work at the editorial team of the Serbian automotive magazines "Autostart" and later "AutoBild," he had the opportunity to engage more closely with Saab vehicles. In 2008, he tested the latest Saab cars of that time, such as the Saab 9-3 TTiD Aero and Saab 9-3 Turbo X. In 2010, as the sole blogger from the region, he participated in the Saab 9-5ng presentation in Trollhättan, Sweden. Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
