Tom hits a new record in Saab Sonett II

Tom Donney is not unknown to you. He is owner of the famous workshop Donney Saab, and he is the setter on several recordswith Saab cars.

Yesterday, he achieved a very good time – Tom Donney set a new speed record in his Sonett II – World Finals Top speed 130mph (209.2km/h) & Running fast on the salt of at Bonneville Salt Flats.  Average speed for 1 miles was 128.7mph. He hoped there would be a new record today, and he succeeded in doing so.

the plans were a bit disrupted by rain, but today was an ideal time for racing. Bonneville World Finals Oct 2, 2018, 1968 750cc 3 cylinder 2 stroke, Saab Sonett II running 129+mph top speed and the average speed for 1 miles was 128.758 mph (207.2 Km/h) they run over 100 mph in 3rd gear!

Now Tom’s team need a backup run to set a new world record! They are chasing their own record of 123.765 mph but rain may be their demise. Also a Saab 96 & 900 running this week. We wish them luck in achieving a new record!

Alongside journalists from around the world, he got a firsthand experience of the pinnacle of technological offerings from Saab at that time. Currently, Goran owns two Saabs: a 2008 Saab 9-3 Vector Sportcombi with a manual transmission, and a Saab 9-3 Aero Griffin Sport Sedan from the last generation, which rolled off the production line in Trollhättan in December 2011.
